I started this blog as a supplement to my work on marketing and policy change in the transition to sustainable technologies, particularly in the area of energy use and generation.  In my Green Thoughts blog, I realized that a lot of what I was writing about was economic theory and political ideas about economics, which remains a discipline with chronic structural and epistemological problems (along with other social sciences).  Therefore I wanted to create a blog where more general concerns about the structure and function of economics could be discussed.

My own background is diverse but my Ph.D. is in psychology.  Psychology has some points of contact with economics and increasingly so in the area of behavioral economics.  However, more broadly both economics and psychology suffer from what I perceive to be overall disciplinary lack of organization and inability to create a unified understanding of how human beings live and work together.
